typing.jpgI have worked with gifted children, their parents, and public and private schools in the United States since 1986. My private practice is dedicated to assisting the special educational needs of gifted and highly gifted children (as well as adult twins and children).

I am recognized as an international expert on the development of twins. My research on the twin attachment informs other issues such as the importance of genetics, the environment, and parenting. I consult with twins and parents of twins who need guidance on reducing conflicts between twins and many other twin issues.

I have written 11 books in the field of education, including my latest, entitled:

New Understandings of Twin Relationships: From Harmony to Estrangement and Loneliness (with Stephen Hart and Jacqueline Martinez).

My previous works are: Twin Dilemmas: Changing Relationships Throughout the Lifespan;

Challenges of Gifted Children: Empowering Parents to Maximize Their Child’s Potential;

Raising Gifted Kids: Everything You Need to Know to Help Your Exceptional Child Thrive;

Alone in the Mirror: Twins in Therapy;

Not All Twins Are Alike: Psychological Profiles of Twinship;

Early Adolescence and the Search for Self: A Developmental Perspective;

Forgotten Memories: A Journey Out of the Darkness of Sexual Abuse;

Issues in School Reform: A View From the Bottom Up (with John McNeil);

Curriculum Design: A Handbook for Educators (with Kathy Wulf); and

Identity and Intimacy in Twins (with Janet Ciriello).

I facilitate weekly parenting groups because I believe that parents are the most important and influential people in a young child’s life. As a young parent in the 1980s, my most outstanding contribution to the field of education was my work developing the initial parent education component for Head Start, a program developed to enhance the school readiness of economically disadvantaged preschoolers.

I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley and my Masters and Ed.D. from the University of Southern California. Also, I served as a post-doctoral fellow at Cedars-Sinai department of psychiatry and Thalians mental health center. I have lectured around the country and in Canada, talking about twins and gifted children.
